Welfare-to-Work

Since 1997, Diversified's Welfare-to-Work program has been helping people in our community to discover new opportunities that many before considered out of reach. Workng with existing government programs such as GAIN, our job coaches have helped people who are ready to learn and have positive attitudes to change their lives. We
help those who make a commitment to gaining employment to achieve their goals. At the same time, we help corporations to see the value of employing members of our community who have made a commitment to changing the lives of themselves and their families.

Diversified's Welfare-to-Work program helps participants gain practical skills with job readiness training. Participants learn the benefits of developing positive attitudes, motivation, goal-setting, and self-awareness.

Many Welfare-to-Work participants can help employers with hard-to-fill, entry-level jobs. Diversified provides job mentoring so that newly placed participants can call a job coach if they have initial difficulties. Once participants are working, the program follows up with skills training to help people grow into more demanding positions, providing added value to the employer.

Financial Incentives for Employers

One of the benefits for corporate participation in the Welfare-to-Work program is the availability of tax credits for hiring welfare recipients. Both Work Opportunity Tax Credits and Earned Income Tax Credits are available.
